Today, I was still supposed to be on the coast. Instead, I followed much of Day 7’s plan.
I left Rice Hill heading for Portland, but hit a big traffic jam. That turned out okay, because I detoured down a more scenic route.
Went through the nice town of Canby.
“Exit 31” is a parking lot for many of the trailheads. When I drove by, it was closed for the day because it was full.
I drove to Ainsworth State Park, but they were full. So I went down to Eagle Creek and got a nice little spot. I pulled in around 6 and spent the evening writing up my trip notes and reading.
